a Hilgers Graben client was ordered to review nearly 900,000 documents in a compact, six-week time frame. A traditional e-discovery review quote would have been $1/document, or nearly $1 million in first-pass review time and required a massive recruitment of temporary attorneys to handle the review (increasing inconsistencies and decreasing the quality of the review), while still leaving costly second-pass and other related substantive work for the trial team.
Enter the Hilgers Graben EDGE team. Our team performed an “eyes-on” first- and second-pass review of each of the 900,000 documents at about 30 cents per document. How did we do it? We used a small, elite team of reviewers who had worked together on a number of high-profile document reviews. The small cohesive team made communication and consistency much easier than in a big, unwieldy team. Using the latest technological tools from our technology partner, the Edge team was able to slice and dice the data in real-time, creating logical work flows based on the substantive information contained in the documents. The end result was a true non-linear review, allowing the Edge team to vastly increase both the speed and the quality of the review. It could be done only with the technology and the talented team that was experienced and trained to think differently about the review.
In short… cheaper, faster, better.
